CTC Writes – A Literary Festival

“This is a great opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate the creativity of Woodstock,” English instructor Jennifer Staton said. “In addition to recognizing some of our students and community members for their literary efforts, we would like to open the door and provide an outlet for those working to master the craft.” Held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Woodstock Campus’ The Circuit, the day-long festival will feature creative workshops, student activities, a local authors’ book fair, live music and performances, a student awards ceremony and speakers.“We are planning a minimum of 12 workshops focusing on topics such as poetry and fiction writing, resume preparation and test preparation,” Staton said. “In addition, we will have students reading their work, a panel and book signing with best-selling authors and we are
working with Elm Street Cultural Arts theatre and local musicians to establish performances during the lunch hour.”

At 7 p.m., award-winning author Raymond Atkins will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. Living in Rome, Atkins teaches English at Georgia Northwestern Technical College and creative writing at Reinhardt University. In 2017, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Georgia Writers Association. This family-friendly event is free to the public.
